Zafreen Khan (Director) an Eloquent Masters Graduate from New York University with a Passion for the Fashion & Beauty Industry

Zafreen Khan is a highly motivated, Eloquent and Resilient Masters Graduate from New York University with an outstanding Academic record, Valuable range of International work experience and a wholly incomparable passion for the Fashion and Beauty industry. She builds strong Business relationships, thinks aesthetically and successfully manages different but equally important, priorities. She is also an energetic team player – culturally aware, confident and sociable by nature. She copes well under pressure and she thrives on travelling the world to experience the diversity of Art, Food, Fashion and Cultural Exuberance.

In 2005 she completed a PG Certificate in Fashion Buying & Merchandising from the London College of Fashion and opened her own UK buying house, Indigo Fashions. The company is a registered marketing division of Bengal Indigo, the leading, vertically integrated apparels manufacturer in Bangladesh. The company supplies quality knit and denim wear to predominant UK retailers. Thus it is renowned for its excellent service and timely delivery, at very competitive prices.

In 2004 as a result of her exceptional hard work on learning new skills, working to deadlines and delivering exceptional results, the UK immigration authority granted her the Highly Skilled Migrant Status entitling her to British settlement and indefinite leave to remain and work in the country. The same year in Dhaka, she coordinated a highly successful Fashion shoot for her company brochure. The cream of the crop amongst the city’s models had their Hair & Make-up done in her family-owned salon, aptly named Spa “Bliss,” offering ladies the very best in personalized beauty services, skin-care and varied spa packages.

In 2003 during her Postgraduate studies she completed a semester in Asia where she was a Guest speaker on ‘The Portrayal of women in media in South East Asia’ at Beijing Broadcasting Institute as well as the University of Tokyo. She also attended thought-provoking conferences in high profile media venues – Reuters, NHK, Sony etc.

Creatively inclined Ms Khan has always expressed a keen interest in Graphic Design and in 2000 she was awarded a 1st Class BA Honours in Mass Communications and Creative Arts, with a minor in Graphic Design from Richmond International University, UK. After being elected the senior team leader for a Graphic Design project at her university, she created a professional website for the Handel House Museum in London. Following which, she actualised new corporate identities and promotional materials for her own Fashion and Beauty businesses.

Furthermore she is blessed with a multilingual upbringing and is proficient in many different languages. After gaining a degree in 2000, she did not rest on her laurels. She received a French Language Certificate after completing a one year diploma in French Civilization and Culture at the highly renowned La Sorbonne University in Paris, France.She then continued her excellence in French by pursuing further studies in the field at the Alliance Francais in the UK.

As an advocate of truly old-fashioned hard work, she has initiated a Best-Selling Indian inspired fashion range and self-designed handmade Bibs, Bag & Beads exhibitions in reputable hotels and the homes of her well connected friends in London, New York, Dubai and Toronto. In her leisure time Miss Khan enjoys writing and has held several high profile positions in reputable news media organisations such as The Times, New York Times and the Daily Star. She wrote a series of informative and well-received articles which have been published and which, in turn, accumulated much positive feedback. She is keen on community organization and an active member of organisations such as the reputable British Red Cross, Brit Bangla and Christian aid (she organised their Carol Academy in 2004 and helped generate funds for the Pakistani Flood Victims in 2010).

In her latest project she has just created an Umbrella “Indigo Alliance” representing a group of companies under her family name who have been offering since the 1930's, a well-established Global Clientele, the very Best in Export-oriented Garments and Fabric Finishing, Creative Ladies Accessories, Health and Vitality, as well as Food and Beverage services! She is hoping this movement will be a successful medium to raise the profile of each of the companies under the Indigo Group and generate greater Multicultural Awareness, ensuring more profitability in Future.

Having lived in Singapore, London, New York and Paris, has enabled Zafreen to develop an exotic taste which inspires her creativity in Writing, Fashion and Food taste! Having developed her cooking skills in Thailand from basic to advanced levels, she also enhanced her culinary skills in diverse cuisines across the world and keeps up to date with the latest flavours and aroma enhancing ingredients to ensure always the freshest taste in her family owned reputable Italian restaurant business.

Zafreen’s relish for life is renown, her knack of adding either a sprinkle or punch to her many achievements, notwithstanding. Her elation at beginning any project is paramount, not least because its completion is given equal value. Her continued search for excellence speaks volumes and it is this astuteness and vision, which provides the framework for all her successful endeavors.
